The Golden Gate Bridge: This icon on the San Francisco area, with its 4,200-foot span and 746-foot tall reach, viewed from the water below, is truly an awe-inspiring sight. Golden Gate National Recreation Area: is a U.S. National Recreation Area administered by the National Park Service that surrounds the San Francisco Bay area. It is one of the most visited units of the National Park system in the United States, with over 13 million visitors a year. San Francisco National Maritime Park: The park includes a fleet of historic vessels, a visitor center, a maritime museum, and a library/research facility. Angel Island: is an island in San Francisco Bay that offers spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline, the Marin County Headlands and Mount Tamalpais. The Marin Headlands: is a hilly area at the southernmost end of Marin County. The Headlands are famous for their stunning views of the Bay Area, especially the Golden Gate Bridge. Historic Fisherman's Wharf: It is best known for Pier 39, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, the Cannery Shopping Center, Ghirardelli Square, the Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf, restaurants and stands that serve fresh seafood -- most notably Dungeness crab and clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl. Tours leave from pier 43½, conveniently located at Fisherman’s Wharf, and depart daily every 30 to 45 minutes. A ticket is good for 90 days, so you can board when it is most convenient for you.
