You will enjoy the food samplings, cuisine, history and culture while on the Brooklyn New York Food and Cultural Tour; a four hour trip that will leave you full and satisfied. You will be led by a tour guide that actually lives in New York, taken to Old Williamsburg, Dumbo and Sunset Park. You will experience everything from chocolates to deli delights, even catching worthwhile views of New York City’s skyline and varied other important landmarks. You will indulge in food from across the world, from Jewish to Cuban.
Your bus tour will begin in Old Williamsburg, where a multitude of ethic communities flourish. You will visit the famous Hasidic deli, savoring samples that have gained fame from the early nineteen sixties. You will explore stores, restaurants and art galleries as the neighborhood is famous for its artsy leanings.
Your next stop is in Dumbo, and nothing to do with the famous childhood character, either. There you will taste handmade chocolates inside the Jacques Torres Chocolate Factory. You will wander around the Brooklyn Bridge Park, enjoying the scenic views of the Manhattan skyline. Your guide will entertain you with stories of amazing engineering feats that were not only record breaking, but had never been done before in human history.
As lunch will fast approach, you will drive to Sunset Park. There you will be treated to a collection of Latino food stores, restaurants and even cafes. Your tour includes lunch, and you and your fellow guests will settle at a picnic table or on the grassy areas to enjoy a traditional Cuban style sandwich or two.
You will finally take a slow drive through the West Village, being shown varied historical homes. You will learn about the amazing and sometimes influential people that once lived there and those that still do. You will have a short stop to allow for photos, so make sure you bring your camera, as you will quickly learn that Brooklyn is one of the world’s top North American cultural destinations.
The tour starts at 11:00 AM and operates on Sunday, Monday and Friday, weather permitting. Though the foods included are just samples, there is sufficient for a very large lunch. Bottled water is also included. However, it is important to plan ahead should you have any food allergies or restrictions, informing the tour operator so they can work the tour around your needs. The tour will meet in Greenwich Village on Cornelia Street, just between Bleecker and West 4th Streets, but the exact location will be given once you buy your tickets.
As the tour involves walking, your tour operator does recommend wearing something comfortable, especially sensible shoes. The tour does continue to operate even during rainy days, so bring along at least a raincoat and an umbrella. Though photography is allowed and encouraged, the tour operator and some of the venues that you will visit do not allow other forms of filming, such as the use of a camcorder, so make sure you leave it behind in your hotel room. |
