We will depart from the bus terminal at Piazza Esquilino and continue on to Piazza Venezia and the Rome Historical Centre with “The Vittoriano,” the altar dedicated to the King Vittorio Emanuele II in 1911.
View the Capitol, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, today the Major´s House. Capitol Square is a work of Michelangelo dating back to the 16th century. You will also see marvelous stairways called “The Cordonata.”
Then enjoy a visit to the Roman Forums. These were the political, military and social center of the entire Roman Empire. Included here is the temple of Julius Cesar, Basilica Emilia, the Arch of Titus and the Holy Road.
We will also visit the Colosseum, Rome’s greatest amphitheater built by the Emperor Vespasian in 72 A.C. It could easily hold 50,000 people.
Finally we will visit the Basilica of San Pietro which was built in Vincoli in 459 A.D. to preserve the chains of Peter, displayed under the main altar. We will also visit the Statue of Moses. This masterpiece by Michelangelo was made when he was 42 years old.
