However long you may stay in Vancouver, Canada, an important sight to see is the Butchart Gardens and Victoria. Beginning on this expedition I recommend having someone drop you off at the Pier as it is costly to take your car on the boat, however this is still an option. The new cruise ship takes about an hour and a half to reach the island. During this duration, you could view the amazing sights of Vancouver. The array of green all around is a breath of fresh air. Everyone kept their eyes open for some Killer Whales (Orca’s), but instead we only saw some sea lions. If you do get hungry, there are plenty food options, or if your in the mood for shopping there is a lovely gift shop. Once we landed on Victoria Island, we drove the windy roads to the Butchart Gardens. After paying the admission, we were amused by the characters acting and singing tunes imitating the original inspirations of the gardens. The garden is sectioned into themes, and each one is worth the views. The intricate details are astonishing. On the way out, the gift shop is worth the stop. At all different prices, the souvenirs are as delicate as the flowers just viewed. Going back to downtown Victoria we decided to shop at the many unique boutiques before going to the pier and enjoying a luxurious dinner on the pier. I wish I would have planned our day a bit better, so that we could have viewed some of the fascinating museums in Victoria. Although we missed the museums, importantly we saw the Butchart Gardens, which I believe was most monumental part of our trip.

Recently on a business trip, I took advantage of the fact that I would be visiting San Francisco. I have heard many great things about Muir Woods from family members, and thought I could squeeze a half day of that after meetings. The tour company I chose conveniently picked me up from my hotel and we drove with a group of lovely people to the reservation. The drive across the Golden Gate Bridge was very exciting, as I felt I was viewing something so monumental for the first time. I could not help thinking to myself how red it really is. I felt lucky that I had cash on me though once I did arrive at Muir Woods, because the entrance fee to the park did cost us five dollars per person. The day I went was sunny, which worked out very nicely as the shade from the trees kept the atmosphere perfect. You could still slightly feel the breeze coming in from the cost, so I suggest wearing jeans and a t-shirt in the summer. The ancient woods however did truly feel historical and the sizes of them were enormously indescribable. The trail was beautiful and the trees were really everywhere. There are many photo opportunities, like one tree that could fit an entire human body in it! Part of my tour package also included a double decker bus tour to Sausalito. This gave me the opportunity to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge once again, and there were many delicious restaurants to go to that were right on the cost. Although Sausalito is a very expensive town, it is also worth the visit. Overall my business trip to San Francisco became a very enjoyable mini vacation.

My family and I took a lovely trip to Niagara Falls. I had previously gone to Niagara Falls in the early 1970’s as a teenager with my parents. When I was younger, I did not nearly appreciate the majestic sights as I did this previous time. On my previous trip, we did not plan at all before we left our home but thought it would be enough to simply drive there. This time we made travel arrangements with a tour guide to drive us to the best locations with the most stunning views. Since we did reserve with a tour company this previous time we were able to see the amazing sights on the Canadian Side which is much more elaborate then the American side. You are able to see the amazing horseshoe on the Canadian side on a large ferry boat. We also had a chance to not only hike along the falls but actually go under the waterfall through a tunnel and out into a balcony. There are no words to describe the feeling you get standing outside that balcony in the middle of Niagara Falls! After visiting the amazing views of the waterfalls, we managed to go and learn some cool facts about the water made electricity on the banks. We also had an opportunity to view the beautiful flower gardens created every year along the way. The last stop was at the Souvenir City where we purchased great memories to take home with us. Later on we drove back to Niagara Falls where we witnessed an incredible light show followed by fireworks. My family and I could not deny that this was one of the most memorable days of our lives!
